Overview:
Industrial Painters perform surface preparation and apply paints, coatings,
and linings to industrial structures. Work is performed on various steel and
concrete substrates and sometimes requires the
use of hanging and built-up scaffolding, platforms, and powered lifts. Application is performed
with brush,
roller, conventional and airless types of spray equipment. The safe and
proper use of power tools, abrasive blast cleaning and spray equipment, and
the mixing of materials is necessary for proper protective coatings and
linings application.
Skills and Experience Sought:
- Knowledge of procedures used in preparing surfaces for painting
- Use and care of hand tools, power tools, and mechanical surface
preparation and application equipment.
- Knowledge of methods, occupational hazards, and safety precautions involved in
industrial
painting work.
- Knowledge of safe rigging and scaffolding use at various elevations. Ability to use the
brush, roller, or spray method for application of paint.
- Five (5) years experience in coatings and linings application of
industrial structures with verifiable employment experience with painting contractors on
industrial painting work
- Applicants must have personal
hand tools necessary to perform job functions.
- A valid drivers license and the ability
to operate a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position as well as
dependable transportation to and from the job site.
